Fierce Competition Over SA’s Favourite Car Models

Park Village Auctions is set to host another highly anticipated two-day hybrid online auction. This time around, bidding is expected to be “fiercer than ever” as a wide range of South Africa’s most popular used car models take centre stage.

That’s the word from PVA’s Graham van Niekerk who says that their auctions have a reputation for fetching highly competitive rates on SA’s best-selling used car models (and few luxury models, too).

“Whether it be their everyday run-around or the coveted Merc SLC, South African’s love acquiring new—or in this case, newer—wheels,” says van Niekerk. He continues, “Don’t mistake buyers as spendthrift. They are far from it, favouring auctions where they know they can nab quality, late-model, low mileage, cars at the best prices.”

Evidence of this can be seen in the results of PVA’s most vehicle auction held on the 5th of August.

  • A 2019 BMW X6 xdrive40d M Sport (F16) (47 357 km) sold for R800 000.
  • A 2018 Mercedes Benz SLC 43 AMG (14 975 kms) sold for R625 000.
  • A 2019 Toyota Hilux 2.8 GD 6 Raider 4×4 double cab (44 952 km) sold for R465 000.
  • A 2016 Ford Everest 3.2 automatic (68 308 km) sold for R320 000.
  • A 2019 Volkswagen Polo Max (32 434 km) sold for R165 000.
  • A 2016 Toyota Avanza automatic (74 979 km) sold for R155 000.

All prices quoted exclude VAT and commission.

The upcoming auction, which will bring ABSA-repossessed passenger and commercial vehicles to market, promises to be no different.

“Looking at the surge in demand for second-hand vehicles (as supply starts trickling), this auction will likely invite some of the fiercest bidding we’ve yet to see,” van Niekerk concludes.

Live online pre-bidding will commence at 10 am on Monday the 6th of September and concludes in lot order via a 10 am webcast on Tuesday the 7th of September.

Viewing will be open for two days, Friday the 3rd and Monday the 6th of September, from 9 am to 3 pm at the ABSA Trade Centre, 8 Top Road, Anderbolt, Gauteng.
