Award-winning wine farm on auction through BidX1

An award-winning wine farm in Franschhoek is just one of a selection of residential and commercial properties which are available for purchase via BidX1’s online auction on 29 October (2020).

Set on 38.38892Ha in a prime location in a part of the Franschhoek valley which allows for deep roots and good water retention, La Couronne Wine Farm is renowned for its Double Gold, Double Platinum, Silver, 5, 4.5 and 4 Star, as well as numerous other awards won from 2012 to date. Wines produced include Shiraz, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Viognier.

Says MC du Toit, CEO of BidX1 South Africa: “Ideally positioned less than 2km from the CBD and easily accessible off the R45, the farm includes well-managed vineyards comprising 19.77Ha, a wine cellar and wine tasting or function venue.”

The main source of irrigation water is directly from the Franschhoek river and from boreholes, while the property includes two holding dams with a pumphouse on the lower dam. The farm includes a 200-ton capacity wine cellar, which can be extended, a utility shed with ancillary three-bedroom apartment, and two cottages of 90sqm and 450sqm respectively.

Additional Franschhoek properties on auction include a five-bedroom, five-bathroom country-style villa ideal for use as a guest house or a luxury Winelands home, with an opening bid of R4.5 million. Set on a stand of 2 283sqm within the Roubaix Vineyard Estate, the property includes a laundry, swimming pool and ample parking. It is also within walking distance of restaurants and shops.

A family home with exceptional views of the Franschhoek Mountains and vineyards, boasting an entertainment area and swimming pool, is also being offered – with an opening bid price of R2.5 million.

In Stellenbosch, in the heart of the Cape Winelands, a centrally situated 325sqm home is a rare find in such a prime location. With four bedrooms and three bathrooms, it includes a modern kitchen with fireplace, plunge pool and double garage, and is on auction with an opening bid of R3.7 million. Another rare opportunity in the town is a well-positioned service station on the corner of Stellenbosch Kloof and Polkedraai Roads, offered with an opening bid of R12.5 million.

Also in the Western Cape, in Hermanus, overlooking world-renowned Walker Bay with its popular beaches and whale watching, is a four-bedroom home close to good schools. With two flatlets for additional rental income, it goes on auction with an opening bid of R1.15 million.

In Herolds Bay in George on the scenic Garden Route, an immaculate, dual-level, five-bedroom home in Oubaai Golf Estate has an opening bid of R4.5 million. With beautiful sea views, this luxury 840sqm home includes a braai area with an indoor braai which leads onto a balcony with swimming pool.

In Knysna, a neat home has become available to purchase with an opening bid of R2.5 million.

In Florida Hills, north west of downtown Johannesburg, a three-level, four-bedroom home with wine cellar, staff quarters, double automated garage, shade port for two cars, heated swimming pool and various outdoor areas at different levels is expected to draw interest, with an opening bid of R1.35 million. Features include underfloor heating in all bedrooms, air conditioning, entrance hall with marble tiles, two large skylights, gym with sauna and shower room, and a patio with built-in braai, among others. The property is easily accessed via the N1 North and Ontdekkers Road, and close to schools, shopping centres and clinics.

Nature lovers seeking a permanent or holiday bush escape will be interested in a vacant stand in Kwaggasvlakte Eco Park in Thabazimbi, Limpopo. This is a prestigious estate situated between the Kwaggasvlakte and Ysterberg, 8km north west of Thabazimbi, with the entrance only 4km from Marakele National Park.

The erf of 2.21ha has an opening bid of R150 000, which belies the true future value of the stand as the estate is still very much in its infancy. This area is known for its pristine natural Lowveld bush. With a number of small deer, antelope and other animals roaming freely between the homes, this is the perfect place for families to be close to nature.
