Commercial Trucks, Tankers and Trailers Headline February Auction

Park Village Auctions (PVA) will bring a substantial selection of commercial tankers, trailers and specialist equipment to auction on Thursday, 26 February, at a time when demand for reliable second-hand fleet assets remains strong across logistics, fuel distribution and construction sectors.

According to Director Clive Lazarus, the catalogue reflects exactly what operators are looking for in the current market.

“Businesses are still feeling the pressure of high replacement costs and long lead times on new vehicles,” says Lazarus. “Well-maintained, working assets that can be put into service immediately continue to offer excellent value, particularly as economic conditions begin to stabilise.”

As ever with PVA commercial auctions, the assets stem from legitimate financial institution repossessions, business rescue matters and liquidations—such as Winkelhaak Verspreiders CC (in liquidation) featured in this particular sale.

The auction includes a strong line-up of truck tractors, featuring late-model units from DAF, Volvo, MAN, IVECO, UD, FAW and Mercedes-Benz Actros, suited to long-haul and regional transport operations. Rigid trucks are anchored by six Mercedes-Benz Actros and Atego 16 000-litre tanker trucks, supported by Hino 300 and Hyundai H-100 LDVs, making the offering particularly attractive to fuel, chemical and distribution operators.

Flat deck link trailers, side tippers, skeletal retractable trailers, link trailers, fuel tanker drawbar and link trailers, from respected manufacturers such as Afrit, Henred Fruehauf, Motortrail, Piet Retief Body Builders, Tank Clinic, SA Road Tanker, are also on the block.

A notable highlight in the yellow metal segment is a fleet of seven 2024 Volvo A40G articulated dump trucks, complemented by three Caterpillar 395 tracked excavators, positioning the auction as a key event for contractors active in bulk earthworks and mining-related projects.

Additional assets include agricultural tractors from Ford and New Holland, rough-terrain and warehouse forklifts, a 5-ton front-end wheeled loader, and diesel bowsers.

Lazarus notes that buyer sentiment remains constructive. “With interest rates having levelled out and transport demand holding up, many operators are choosing to invest carefully in quality used equipment rather than delaying fleet decisions.”

The auction will commence at 11:00 and will be simulcast, with online bidding running alongside onsite proceedings at PVA’s Rietfontein Truck Yard in Muldersdrift, as well as locations in Durban, Bloemfontein and Gqeberha (PE).
