With value-for-money top of mind for consumers as economic activity embarks on a gradual recovery, savvy property buyers and investors are finding that a wide variety of attractive opportunities are currently on offer via online auction, says MC du Toit, CEO of BidX1 South Africa.

“Especially now that the hard lockdown is over and regulations are easing, we are seeing a growing appetite among investors for a diverse range of properties, both commercial and residential, including homes in secure lifestyle estates and prime coastal destinations.

“Our forthcoming auction on 29 September provides a range of options in locations around the country, including a development opportunity comprising 22 prime-located, vacant residential stands in Kolgansbaai security village in Gansbaai, right on the ocean edge with spectacular sea and mountain views – and conveniently close to town. This property, which consists of all 22 stands, has an opening bid of R2.2 million.”

A historical manor house in Middelburg, the cultural heartland of Mpumalanga Province, which is currently operating as a guesthouse, is likely to attract significant interest. With 12 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, swimming pool and office, this property has an opening bid of R3 million. A further sound opportunity for investment is a two-bedroom unit in Waterberg Security Village, an upmarket development in Onverwacht in Lephalale, close to a newly-built regional shopping centre and main roads. With an opening bid of R290 000, this property has a potential rental income of R6 500 per month.

In the commercial sector, a well-located ground floor office or retail space is available for purchase in Umhlanga Ridge just north of Durban, in a sought-after business hub. Comprising 59sqm and with a designated parking bay included, the opening bid is R900 000.
